NORWALK, CONN. (PRWEB) FEBRUARY 28, 2018
Aitoro Appliance, a family-owned and operated luxury appliance and electronics store serving Fairfield County and beyond, announced that it has been awarded the coveted “Family-Owned Business Award” by Westfair Communications.
Each year, Westfair Communications evaluates family-owned businesses in the Fairfield and Westchester County regions, and honors the top companies at its annual Family-Owned Business Awards presented by the Westchester and Fairfield County Business Journals.
The competition is meant to highlight and celebrate exceptional businesses that have relied on the dedication and work ethic of multiple generations of family members.
Aitoro was founded in 1948 after Anthony Aitoro and his three sons were let go from a hat factory. They decided to take over a variety store on Ely Avenue in South Norwalk, and one day a man dropped off a Maytag wringer washing machine on the sidewalk for them to sell. Though they had no room inside to display the machine, Anthony’s son Vincent quickly sold it off the sidewalk to a customer passing by. He called the first man, asked him to bring two more washing machines, and Aitoro Appliance was born.
A move to Westport Avenue in Norwalk in 1963—and two more generations—later, Aitoro remains a beloved local business that prides itself on delivering the very best in customer service and in-store experience at its 12,000-sq-ft showroom.
“This is such a heart-warming award to receive, one that recognizes the true cornerstones of Aitoro,” said Tony Aitoro, President and CEO—and Vincent’s son. “My father, grandfather, and uncles loved two things the most: their families and honest, hard work. We feel humbled to be honored alongside these other reputable family-owned businesses, and I know that the generations before me—including my father, who passed in December—are proud.”
Westfair Communications revealed that it received a record number of nominations this year. The publisher presented Aitoro and its fellow winners with the award at a dinner event in White Plains last night.
The “Family-Owned Business Award” joins Aitoro’s other acknowledgments in recent months, including receiving the Home Builders & Remodelers Association’s “2017 Best Showroom Award” at the HOBI Awards, and being named the Connecticut Retail Merchants Association’s “2017 Retailer of the Year” for its outstanding customer service, business practices, and community involvement.
